| dc.description.abstract | Selecting and retaining a committed work force is still challenging for any organization. This study was aimed to investigate the impact of fair treatment and working environment on organizational commitment of employees at a firm operating in apparel industry in Sri Lanka. Since the machine operators play a vital role of a garment manufacturing factory, they were treated as the target population of this study. Out of 867 machine operators a sample of 269 was selected using the cluster sampling method. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey. A multiple regression was performed to investigate the impacts of the variables interested. Pertaining to the previous research findings, the current study also brought evidence to a significant positive impact of fair treatment on organizational commitment. Consequently, this will help the organization to rethink of their justice perceptions on their employees in a manner of increasing their commitment. In contrast to the previous research findings, this study highlighted a negative impact of working environment on organizational commitment. This study creates a novel contribution to the existing theoretical gap as well as to the industry in order to gain and maintain a committed workforce so as to achieve its goals and objectives. | en_US |
