Abstract:
The study attempts to examine event implications towards local villagers socio-economic at Kampung Orang Asli Tanjung Sepat, Kuala Langat, in Selangor, Malaysia. In 2014, The Ministry of Federal & Rural Development (KKLW) has implemented ‘Program Anugerah Desa Sejahtera 1Malaysia (ADS1M)’ which combines two (2) national competitions for rural areas. Kampung Orang Asli Tanjung Sepat won the award for Anugerah Desa Cemerlang (ADC) which judges on development on the village and another award on Anugerah Desa Sejahtera (ADS), an evaluation on patriotism spirits and independence. This show that the cooperation among the villagers is strong in developing their socioeconomic for their future. Winning this award has created awareness among the villages to raise their socioeconomic and create good relations between the government and third parties involved in helping to improve their village such as from NGOs and institutions. Their involvement includes providing services such as catering during the event be held at their villages, introducing their culture, showcase their awards, conducting unique village activities as well as performing cultural performances to guests. The study revealed unique insights of event implications to the socioeconomic of the village such as improve in their quality of life, increase money fund, good engagement with third parties and offering free publicity for their village as a potential tourism destination.
