dc.description.abstract The student engagement has been a dynamically concerned subject within the educational field. Higher student engagement has driven to extend within the student accomplishments in their academics. The study basically focused about the student engagement in state (ABC) and nonstate (XYZ) universities in Sri Lanka. The reason of conducting this investigate is to find if there’s a relationship between student engagement and the academic achievement. Deductive research design was utilized in the present study. Data collection was based on primary data and a mixed strategy was utilized as both quantitative and qualitative approach were taken in collecting the data. 350 undergraduates from both the state and non-state universities were selected as the sample for the study. As per the results of the research study, it was found that there’s a statistically significant strong positive relationship between student engagement and the academic achievement (r = 0.912, p = 0.000) and specifically it was found that campus engagement has had a stronger relationship with the academic achievement than that of the class engagement. The results will be of significance to the universities as well as to the current undergraduates to know which measurements of student engagement that they must centre on to gain superior academic accomplishment. Additionally, the investigate will be of help to Sri Lanka as in spite of the fact that this subject was being investigated in numerous other nations, it was found out that a significant consideration was not given in Sri Lankan setting to discover the relationship between students’ engagement and their scholarly accomplishment, even-though there can be unpublished researches. en_US
