dc.description.abstract Enterobacter sakazakii is a gram-negative rod within the family Enterobacteriaceae, genus Enterobacter. This is a frequent contaminant in powdered formula and can cause sepsis meningitis or necrotizing enterocolitis in newborn infants. Therefore it is very important to implement an effective method to identification of Enterobacter sakazakii in powdered milk. Three methods were carried out in order to determine the most effective pathway to identify Enterobacter sakazakii by combining modem methods that use to detect Enterobacter sakazakii In first method samples were tested with Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar and dark purple colony was sub cultured in Nutrient Agar and yellow colonies formed were confirmed with oc-glucosidase and API 20E kit. Second procedure followed the Lauryl sulfate tryptose broth with extra salt and vancomycin cultivation and sub cultured in Nutrient agar + bile salts broth, oc-glucosidase and API 20E kit was used for confirmation. In the 3 procedure sample was mixed aseptically with BPW (Buffered peptone water) and incubated. 0.1ml of solution was transferred in to LSD + SV solution and the same method in procedure 2 was followed to identify Enterobacter sakazakii The results obtained from three procedures revealed that no Enterobacter sakazakii was present in food samples taken for assessment. No results were found to reveal that is present in the environmental samples but results shown the presence of many Enterobacteriaceae species which are not harmful. The second procedure is to be the rapid sample compared to other two methods and most effective method in identification is one that can be recommended that the procedure one is the most cost effective method in routing analysis of Enterobacter sakazakii. en_US
