Redesign the website of National Science & Technology Commission

Abstract

As Information technology is the fastest and most widely used communication media a complete website for an Institution like National Science and Technology necessary to keep the national & international community made aware and updated on the Institution. The National Science and Technology Commission had a Website. But it had been found that the site lacks both in content and good design. The drawbacks prevalent in this website had only few links. When users clicked on one link, they could proceed only up to a single page. Further those links were not categorized and no searching facility was available. The objectives of this project were To overcome the drawbacks of existing website To improve the website by publishing important information about NASTEC and To provide search facility. The website was developed using following methods. Discussing with the relevant persons the analysis was carried out. Also drawbacks were observed in the existing website. All the information was categorized in to several pages. About the Commission, Product Relations, Public Relations and links to other pages like that. All the web pages were created using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Java Scripts. Cascading Style Sheet (CSS)used to provide more attractive design. Common Gateway Interface (CGI) Script was usedto provide searching facility. Java Applet was used to create Scroll bars. The outcome of the project was a new website for the. NASTEC with several important categorical links with a good search engine. Further the important information related to NASTEC was added so that they could be accessed very easily.
