Quality assurance in higher education greatly involves enhancing teaching and learning (TL) processes with the ultimate target of improving educational outcomes to the expected quality level. However, quality enhancement through a statistical process control (SPC) technique has not been deeply applied in educational institutes. Therefore, this study aims at developing a control chart for the proportion of "failed students’ in the most critical course
module in the curriculum. This analysis considered data relevant to the specific course module from the 2001 batch to the 2020 batch. The control limits of the p-chart developed using the controlled data points were used to monitor the TL process of the particular course and identify any significant deviation from the "in control" situation. Hence, the developed control chart can be used as an on-going process monitoring technique to modify and enhance the TL process of this course in order to meet the expected
requirements. |
