Abstract:
Nowadays, most businesses adopt the Green Concept while improving their operational
performance. The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of green supply chain
management practices (green purchasing, eco-design, cooperation with customers, and
investment recovery) on operational performance (flexibility, delivery, quality, cost
reduction) with particular reference to the export manufacturing industry in Sri Lanka. Data
was gathered from a survey from 56 managers of manufacturing companies in the
Biyagama Export Processing Zone. This study analyzed data by using Correlation analysis,
descriptive statistics and SPSS software were used. As the result of this study, the
researcher identifies there is a positive relationship between green supply chain
management practices and the operational performance of the manufacturing companies.
This study has several important implications for manufacturers who have implemented,
and willing to implement GSCM practices in the responded firm. In addition, the research
significantly contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence for the impact of
four dimensions of GSCM practices that are green purchasing, eco-design, cooperation
with customers, and investment recovery on operational performance and customer
satisfaction.
