Abstract:
Resource limitation is one of the major issues that began with increasing
population, urbanization and environmental pollution. It is necessary to take action
to reduce the pollution that generates in apparel sector. The ultimate goal of the
sustainable development is address economic, social and environment pillars.
Trend Setters (PVT) Ltd is one of the main apparel sector organization that export
the fabrics for the foreign market. In this study researcher found out the fabric
consumption, what are the points that generates fabric wastage and find out the
options that reduce the fabric wastage and environment impact that generated from
the selected style. In this study, the researcher identified that, 71% of the wastes
in these discarded materials came from 138 kg of cuttings and Sewing (32 kg)
16%, fabric inspection (1 kg) 1%, iron (10 kg) 5%, packing (12kg) 6%, and final
inspection (2kg) 1%. Recipe method use for LCA to describes both impact
category and damage category. The highest impact generate from the Human
carcinogenic toxicity and the lowest impact generate from the Marine resource
scarcity. The highest damage from this style generates from the Human health and
the second highest one is Ecosystems. Trend Setters (PVT) Ltd recommend to
improve waste management system and effective waste management methods.
Future researchers can quantify direct and indirect impact of the fabric waste in
apparel sector.
