Abstract:
The objective of this study is to identify guidelines for optimizing Badminton
course delivery to elementary school pupils in accordance with the “double
reduction policy.” The guidelines will address crucial topics such as the
incorporation of badminton courses in Physical Education (PE), the distribution of
resources and facilities, the training of PE teachers and coaches, and the
encouragement of pupil involvement. The initial phases of the implementation
strategies involved accumulating pertinent data on badminton, pupils, and
educational policy by conducting a comprehensive literature review. Next, the
researcher obtained access privileges to the selected elementary institutions and
seasoned physical education teachers. Using semi-structured interviews, the
researcher arranged focus groups with PE instructors to hear their perspectives on
badminton course delivery and development. The FGDs were utilized to collect
data while ensuring that participants could freely and candidly convey their
thoughts and experiences. The responses were transcribed and analyzed
thematically to identify significant themes and patterns. The findings imply that
introducing badminton courses to the primary school PE curriculum can assist the
overall development of elementary pupils by enhancing their sports abilities,
increasing physical coordination, and establishing a harmonious relationship
between teachers and pupils. However, several obstacles impede the proper
implementation and delivery of badminton courses, including limited school
space, instructors' poor teaching skills, and inadequate communication between
teachers and pupils. Recommendations were offered based on the research's
findings including the improvement of badminton facilities, the enhancement of
teacher training and professional development, the incorporation of lifetime sports
awareness into curricular objectives, and the promotion of a student-centered
instructional approach. Under the "double reduction policy," the guidelines
identified in this study seek to promote the efficient delivery of badminton courses
to elementary school pupils in China.
