dc.description.abstract In this study, undergraduates majoring in Translation Studies at Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa University are examined for their complex interactions with regard to information processing skills, cognitive processing capacity, and translation performance. The study investigates how these factors interact to influence students' translation skills by drawing on a conceptual framework with roots in cognitive psychology. The approach views translation performance as the dependent variable and information processing capacity and cognitive processing capabilities as the independent factors. The study employs a mixed methods approach to investigate these linkages with a focus on pragmatism and abductive reasoning in recognition of the complexity and unexplored nature of the translation process. A systematic questionnaire will help collect quantitative data, which will make statistical analysis to spot trends and linkages easier. Semi structured interviews will be used to collect qualitative data, which will provide complex insights into students' experiences and viewpoints. The results are intended to give readers a thorough grasp of the relationships between undergraduate students majoring in translation studies' information processing skills, cognitive processing abilities, and translation performance. This study has implications for improving translation education and training programmes, which may eventually improve students' ability to translate at Sabaragamuwa University and may provide guidance for programmes throughout the world. en_US
