Abstract:
The eternal value of Social Work as an academic discipline and Ambedkarism as a
social movement has had profound influences on human society. The main aim of this
article was to generate a critical discussion on the commonalities seen in Social Work
and Ambedkarism. Both Social Work and Ambedkarism are used to support
individuals, groups, and communities to upgrade their well-being. In developing this
argument, three main characteristics of Social Work; values, principles, and ethics,
have been compared to the philosophy of Ambedkar. Even though both can enhance
the lives of innumerable people around the globe, their full potential has not yet been
realized in many contexts. In perusing the philosophies of Ambedkar, the Third World
regimes, governmental and non-governmental institutions, and international
organizations can promote the untiring efforts of Ambedkar as benchmarks to initiate
individual, communal, and social development. In a time when the entire world is
vying for sustainable development goals, Ambedkarism can instil positive
frameworks in all spheres for the betterment of humankind. In every country,
educational institutes can impart philosophies like Ambedkarism and use localised
contexts to educate present and future Social Work professionals to serve humanity
better
