Abstract:
Against the background of the integration of the Education Power Strategy and the “Belt and
Road” Initiative, Sino-Sri Lankan cooperative education serves as a core carrier for educational
connectivity between the two countries and a critical platform for China to project its
international influence. This paper attempts to explore its model characteristics and optimization
paths, aiming at providing references for high-quality Sino-foreign cooperative education.
The study shows that three typical models have been formed. Firstly, the “academic credit articulation”
university cooperation model, such as Chinese and Sri Lankan universities jointly
offering majors and carrying out joint talent cultivation through credit recognition. Secondly,
the “skill co-construction” vocational education model, which builds Luban Workshops relying
on vocational education alliances and conducts localized skill training. Thirdly, the “cultural
integration” project model, which promotes the integration of language teaching and cultural
communication through joint activities. Targeting the challenges of faculty compatibility and
curriculum appropriateness, optimization paths are proposed: building a “two-way empowerment”
faculty mechanism to promote regular teacher exchanges; advance “localized” curriculum
reform and adjust courses in combination with Sri Lank’s industrial needs. The study
shows that Sino-Sri Lankan cooperative education should take “mutual benefit and win-win” as
the core to contribute to China’s Education Power construction, cultivate talents for Sri Lanka,
and realize resource integration and strategic coordination.
